Thus Endeth the Season...

weirdqafanJust finished watching episode 2x22 of Veronica Mars, Not Pictured.
So Cassidy "Beaver" Casablancas bombed the bus.
I get why, and wasn't too surprised. Come on, who didn't figure out that Woody molested him ages ago? And that he was the 3rd voice on the recording. I had a feeling it was going to be him (though I did think that Dick fills the sociopathic mold better, though is not nearly smart enough to pull that shit off) but completely don't buy him being evil. The whole evil cackling, enjoying Veronica's pain thing was a bit odd, but then again so is bombing a bus of fellow classmates just to avoid people finding out that you were molested as a kid.
Was a bit surprised at the Cassidy did rape Veronica revelation. Wasn't expecting that. In my estimation Veronica was violated twice that night. Sidenote: I've always felt that Veronica had been raped anyway, regardless of Duncan's state of intoxication, due to the evidence that he was not nearly as drugged as she was, i.e. he remembered what happened the next morning. And I never understood how (before she knew of Logan spiking Duncan's drink) find out that it was Duncan suddenly made it 'not' rape. It was still rape regardless given how she was never able to consent.
So following that logic, Veronica was raped twice the night of Shelley Pomeroy's party.
But if Cassidy was molested when he was little (based on the pictured, probably about 11 or 12 years old) would he still have Chlamydia at age 15 (my guesstimate as to his age at Shelley's party, his being 1 year younger than Veronica) to pass it on to Veronica? Wouldn't that have been caught by a doctor before then? And treated? Also, I don't buy that Veronica didn't get a medical examination after the party. She thought she had been raped. I don't see her not going in for an exam, STD & pregnancy testing. I think there are a few loopholes there.
Also figured that Cassidy was going to jump. Plus it saves them from having to have a trial next season.
Was anyone else cheering when Aaron got shot? 'Cuz I was! And I loved that it was Clarence Weidman. Found it interesting in that Duncan took care of Lilly's killer. When we saw that it was CW, I was almost expecting it to have been Jake that ordered the hit, but given that he didn't even attend the trial...Duncan makes sense.
And what the hell happened to Weevil's grandma? Seriously what's up with that? She suddenly aged 20 years in 2? I know Weevil said she was sick, but damn. I hate it when they don't get the same actors to play a character.
And Lamb completely sucked at not waiting 10 damn minutes so Weevil could graduate. But I guess karma kicked his ass, 'cuz according to what Keith said about the plane, sounded to me like Lamb was on it. So Lamb's dead?
And Logan rocks. And Logan's a hero. And Veronica and Logan kissage rocks more. Are we ever going to see how that little development happend? Also loved the ending paralleling the beginning of the season where Veronica was sitting on the couch with Logan's head in her lap, and here Logan was sitting on the couch with Veronica in his lap.
Logan was so wonderful on the roof convincing Veronica not to kill Cassidy. That she wasn't a killer. And his expression when Veronica said that Cassidy raped her was so painful.
Overall it was a good episode. But I've gotta say it wasn't nearly as good as the season 1 finale. I mean that finale kicked my ass as far as shock value and surprises. This was a bit more predictable, but there were some good moments.
Did quite enjoy the 'What if' dream. Thought it was completely interesting that even in the canon 'What if' universe Veronica still winds up with Logan. Take that Duncan/Veronica shippers!
There so better be a season 3!

Date: 5/10/06 12:34 am (UTC)I just got hooked at 2.17 and I was jumping up and down shreiking at the end, then I called my best friend (who I got hooked after I started and who has now watched Season 1 as fast as Netflix sends 'em and curses me for getting her addicted) and we discussed all of it.
There must be a season3!!!
PS Most people don't have symptoms from Chlamydia until it starts to affect internal organs and cause other problems, and since Beav was supposedly a virgin, there is no reason he would have been tested. And without antibiotics, it would just lurk in his body. As for Veronica, I think if Lamb would have taken her seriously, she would have had a rape kit, but she was such a mess after he wouldn't let her that she didn't. And then she found out it was Duncan and he was supposedly a virgin, so why get tests?
