People used to blame the Jews every time something bad happened. Throughout history this happened. For example: Germany was going through a major economical depression in the 1930s, so Hitler comes along and points the finger at the Jewish population saying they are to blame for the country's financial difficulties and that if you get rid of them, you get rid of the depression. And of course we all know how well that turned out.

But civilization has evolved. Now it's blame the Gays.

After 9/11, some (supposedly) 'Christian' groups (I say 'supposedly' because if you are a true Christian, you're supposed to love thy neighbor, not blame and hate them because they're different) claimed that it was G-d's way of punishing this country for condoning that type of 'immoral' behavior. Especially since this country embraces the LGBT community at every turn, right? [insert snark here]

And now after the devastation in New Orleans, some brilliant people are blaming Gays for the Hurricane as it being G-d's way of punishing New Orleans for having Southern Decadence, especially given the timing. For those who don't know, SD was held yearly Labor Day weekend. Like my mom said, that's kinda creepy. But it's also bullshit.

Yes the devastation that Hurricane Katrina wrought is a terrible thing. Horrible. But trying to place blame on a group of people for it is petty, small-minded, not to mention idiotic.

It amazes me how so-called "Christians" come up with the most outlandish, asinine bullshit to rationalize a horrific act of nature. No one deserved this.

Not only does no one deserve that, claiming that it's to punish a group of people and trying to stir up shit, takes focus away from the real issue~ people dying, cities trying to rebuild & people attempting to recover from the devastation.

Louisiana and Mississippi are in total chaos, and the last thing you want to hear when someone's grandmother dies in the Superdome is that she died because of OH NOES TEH GAY!

If they want to point fingers, they can direct them toward their fearless leader in the White House, who took necessary funds for reinforcing the levees away to pay for the fucking war!

I just listened to a Christian charity spokesperson on CNN begin his comment about the devestation with a rant about how they've taken God out of schools/education etc and that's the reason why people have resorted to shooting and looting. Faith in God = morals apparently - yep, that's why Christian leaders/priests etc have never been directly involved in pedophilia, homosexual sex, corruption, suicide etc. I used to be a Sunday School teacher once; boy-oh-boy have my lessons changed since then *lol*.

*rolls eyes*

These oh-so-moral, holier-than-thou 'Christian' community 'leaders' really need to fucking shut up already. Maybe G-d's punishing them for being so self-righteous and bigoted. Not to mention imbeciles.

Bad weather and bad things happen to people all the time and it has nothing to do with who did what. Circumstances are what happens, hurricanes dont carry a gay label on them when they surge through a town, city, state, country...whatever...it just destroys. As for our so called president to even think about him really pisses me off. Four days going into five and those people are just now starting to get some help?!! What the fuck? and all the while those poor people are having to suffer, the goverment and local convenience stores in my area are taking this crisis to a whole new level by gouging the freaking gas prices...geez cant we just concentrate on the people that need help instead of taking the opportunity to rake in more cash to line these fat cows pockets? I could see it, even understand it if the extra charge was going to be used to help those people but its not.

The hurricane is just an excuse to gauge people on gas. Just like it's being used as an excuse for people to spout their hate and bullshit in an attempt to drum up hate in others and multiply their numbers. It's disgusting.

I so agree. In North Carolina, its illegal to gouge the gas prices but I live in freaking Virginia where screwing the little man is a local past time. *shakes head* But I have nothing to complain about in the long or short of things. Those people are what matters right now. And what help if the local police there? Geez even they were caught on camera for looting and their response was 'their doing it' *shakes head* and people have a nerve to blame it on gays? No, its closed minded a-holes in the white house thats causing this country to go to hell in a handbasket. Reagen in his Alzheimer days did a much better job running this country then the loon in the office is doing.

Something sinful and decadent is always going on in NOLA, so I wouldn't consider the timing creepy. If not SD, then Mardi Gras, or Pride, or the international prostitute convention, or beignets...

*sigh*

At times like this I am glad that I dont keep up with crap like this because then i can pretend its not happining. Unfortunally it is, I really cant believe how closed minded and ignorant people can be.
